The Face of Resilience:
DROPtheSTAR is an American-made rock band built on loud guitars, big hooks, raw emotion, and a healthy disregard for the ordinary.
Blending the grit of grunge, the attitude of hard rock, and the timeless power of classic rock, DROPtheSTAR creates music that feels both familiar and completely its own. Their songs are unapologetic, honest, and driven by the kind of riffs that hit you in the chest and choruses that demand to be shouted back.
The band’s world exists somewhere between a dark curiosity shop and a smoky rock club—a place where strange things live, stories have teeth, and nothing is quite what it seems. Their visual identity is as unconventional as their music, filled with mystery, symbolism, rebellion, and a little bit of beautiful chaos.
At the heart of DROPtheSTAR is a simple idea: music should make you feel something.
They write about fighting for what matters, surviving what tries to break you, questioning what we're told, and finding something worth believing in when the world gets loud.
No major-label machine. No massive advertising budget. No manufactured image.
Just four musicians, their instruments, their stories, and a determination to make something real.
DROPtheSTAR — American Made. Rock & Roll. Nothing Ordinary.
Johnny: Singer
Johnny’s stage presence commands your attention with a ferocity of powerful vocals, and he brings a wealth of experience with him to DROPtheSTAR. His band credits include Bathtub Gin & New American Shame. Touring and playing with bands such as Local H, Megadeth, Static X, Buck Cherry, Staind, Bif Naked, Dokken, Joan Jett, Page and Plant, Queens of the Stone Age, Blue Oyster Cult, Pearl Jam, Mother Love Bone, X Ambassadors, Loud Mouth, Kid Rock, and The Cult. Johnny is no stranger to the big stage and rumor has it that he was a consideration to stand in for Brian Johnson of AC/DC. His previous band New American Shame reached number 33 on the Billboard Rock Charts with their single Under It All. Johnny was then asked to audition for Rockstar: INXS, a national TV program aired in the US searching for a new voice for INXS. “I just want DTS to be a songwriter’s rock band. I was raised on rock radio. It’s a formula that I love.” (American Shame MTV)
Ty: Guitar
Ty is a very highly sought-after guitar virtuoso, producer, and engineer. His band credits include Fall from Grace and Jet City Fix. Inspired by players like Slash, Andy Timmons, and the tones David Gilmore, Jack White, Jeff Beck and Tom Morrello. Ty’s musical flavor is as deep as it is wide. Ty has been on multiple national tours opening for New American Shame, Ratt, and Nash Kato-Urge Overkill, Buckcherry, Seven Dust, Steel Panther, Eve 6, Savin Abel, 3 Days Grace, Redlight Kings and Aranda, winding up on the Link Ray and Marky Ramone tour. The Jet City Fix. http://www.thejetcityfix.com had several singles being played on college radio. "Music is my life. Bars, cars and guitars! That’s all I've ever known."
Disco: Bass
Donnie can play anything with strings. His ear for melody and song direction is his greatest strength. His previous bands include The Guns of Nevada https://youtu.be/DU21ItMN_gs and The Hardcount. Guns of Nevada was signed to PIG records, who’s artist roster and was known for the distribution of the Misfits, DOA and The Accused. Donnie has played alongside such mega acts as Joe Cocker, Tom Petty, and Toby Keith. He has also had numerous songs licensed for TV and film. His country rock single "Hard to Wave Goodbye in Handcuffs" was placed in the indie film, A First Time for Everything. Additionally, he contributed four songs to the soundtrack for the movie Angel's Bounty. “It’s the boom and throb of the bass that synchronize the listener to the song. It’s those low frequencies that that pull you in and keep you in.”
Murdock: Drums
Murdock comes to us from the great state of NY. He migrated to the PNW to get out of the armpit of Lake Ontario's cold frigid winters. He paid the state of NY to get a degree he didn't need in Music Business with a real world minor in survival skills. He cut his teeth in sound engineering for bands like Yellowcard, Andrew WK, Muse, Joan Jett, The Donnas, GWAR, Average White Band, Dickey Betts, Rik Emmett, Kansas, Eddie Money, Silvertide, 10,000 Maniacs, many others... His former bands include Astronomical Unit, Heatseeker, Borrowed Time, The Adarna, and Polly Slanderous. Murdock was abandoned on our doorstep by a music scene friend. He arrived on his first day as a perfect fit with a bottle of top-shelf bourbon, corporate ice, and a demented personality. He is the diesel pusher we needed to complete the well-greased machine that is DROPtheSTAR.
